  It seems this ENT practice has a policy that prevents patients from switching to other doctors within the practice, even while the new doctor is actively accepting patients. I discovered this while trying to set an appointment for my 7-year old who, after two screenings via Grant Wood, needs an audiology exam and more intensive screening. I learned that because my son had ear tubes implanted at age 2 by a certain PCI physician, I'm ineligible to see someone else in the practice that I prefer (based on a friend's reccommendation). I can, however, take my luck of the draw and see the doctor that's up on rotation. Those are my two options for ENT care in Cedar Rapids - stick with the doctor I don't care for, last seen 5 years ago OR go with whomever is on rotation this week. I cannot see the doctor that's been reccommended to me, even though he's accepting new patients. This "policy" seems to protect the physicians' best interests, completely disregarding the needs and wishes of the patient. The physician we originally saw 5 years ago didn't forge a bond with us - quite the opposite, in fact, and one of the reasons I don't wish to see him now - and yet he reserves the right to inhibit our ability to see another physician. My options now are to travel to Waterloo or Iowa City to see an ENT. I'm seriously frustrated by this situation, and think it should be taken into account by prospective patients seeking ENT services.
